Classification Bobretzky (1868) used a subgenus, Corephorus Grube, recording the name as Terebellides (Corephorus) carnea, but later (1881) just used T. carnea. Corephorus is regarded as a synonym of Terebellides, and it is not known if it was used as a subgenus by authors other than once by Bobretzky (in his 1868 article). [details]

Publication date Hartman catalogue and more recently the Garraffoni et al catalogue of 2006 incorrectly record the publication date and article as 1881 in Bobretzky's 'additions to the annelid fauna of the Black Sea'. Instead the name dates from the original publication in Bobretzky 1868.  [details]
