Classification Orensanz (1990) placed the genus Pinniphitime in Iphitimidae, hence the name choice, but this family is not now recognised, and the genus is in Dorvilleidae [details]
Etymology Author: "From 'pinna' (Latin: feather), making reference to the pinnate mandibular lobes, and Iphitime, nominal genus of the family". Orensanz placed the genus in Iphitimidae, but this family is not now recognised, and the genus is in Dorvilleidae [details]
