Etymology The subspecific epithet edentata is the Latin word for 'toothless', and refers to the absence of a pharyngeal tooth in the subspecies in relation to what was described for the Japanese stem species, Syllides japonicus Imajima, 1966. [details]

Type locality Pacific Ocean, Galapagos Islands, Santa Cruz Island, Bahía de la Academia, northern side, immediately in front of Darwin Station (geocoordinates not provided, but estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. -0.743332º, long. -90.304801º). [details]
