Synonymy Nygren & Pleijel (2007) considered that the description of the trepan of Autolytus antondohrni by Çinar & Gambi (2005) was based on misinterpretations, and that the species is synonymous with Myrianida tyrrhenica (Cognetti, 1953): "Examination of the trepan teeth in autolytines requires proper squeezing of the specimen, since the lateral teeth otherwise may appear to be of different size from the other ones. We instead suggest that both these species are provided with a dentition consisting of 10–11 teeth, all of similar size, although newly collected specimens are required to verify this. Çinar & Gambi separated M. tyrrhenica and A. antondohrni by the shape of the teeth and the distribution of granules. Both these features, however, are extremely difficult to assess accurately from old, preserved specimens, and considering that they only examined a single specimen of each taxon, we here treat the two species as synonyms" (Nygren & Pleijel, 2007: 25).
