Status Without much background or detail Grube (1869) mentions Omaria, proposed in his text for a genus for Ophelia aulopygos and O. polycheles, as apparently both have a long anal cirrus. Much later Chamberlin (1919: 384) included Omaria in his key to Opheliidae genera, and Ehlers 1918: 245) used Omaria as a subgenus of Ammotrypane for the combination A (Omaria) polycheles. Otherwise the name seems to be a forgotten one. The Hartman catalogue (1959: 432) placed it as a synonym of Ammotrypane, which is a synonym of Ophelina [details]

From editor or global species database
Publication date Hartman (1959: 432) mistakenly gives the Omaria genus date of 1869 as also the date for the two Grube 1866 species included in Omaria, and refers them to Ammotrypane, whereas immediately below she correctly refers the original names in Ophelia to Ophelina [details]
