Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet longifurcata is a New Latin adjective (masculine: longifurcatus), composed by the Latin prefix longi-, meaning 'long', and the Latin adjective furcata (masculine: furcatus), meaning 'forked', and presumably refers to the length of the longer tine of the forked chaetae, stated to be about three times as long as the shorter one: ''eine kürzere [tine] und eine fast dreimal so lange, gebogene Zinke'' (Hartmann-Schröder, 1965: 202).
