Validity The species appears as "Eumenia? erucaeformis Sars, nov. spec. ....... 300 - (fathoms)" in a list of species given by M. Sars (1869), without any description or further comments. Hartman (1959) considered the species as 'Questionable'. Being the 1869 publication apparently the only existing reference to the species, it should be considered instead as a 'nomen nudum', as already stated by Støp-Bowitz (1945).
