Etymology author: "named for its yellowish green color (muriaticus is Latin for pickled)" [details]
Publication date Eibye-Jacobsen (1991: 87, 112) published the name Eumida muriatica as 'in press', but included the species in a key and further diagnosed the species in a Remarks, and gave a type locality. The name therefore dates from the date of this 1991 paper, December 20, 1991, rather than from the intended full description published elsewhere in 1992. Code article 16.1 requires names published after 1999 to be intentionally and explicitly new; this rule does not apply to a name published in 1991. [details]
