Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet precirriseta is composed by the Latin prefix pre-, meaning 'before', the Latin noun cirri (singular: cirrus), meaning 'filament' or 'slender appendage', and the Latin noun seta, meaning 'bristle', and refers presumably to the distinctive character of the species, which ''differs from all known species of the genus in having the dorsal lamella of setiger 1 in the presetal instead of postsetal position'' (Blake & Kudenov, 1978: 186).
