Synonymy Bhaud (1998:258) stated: "in contrast to the opinion of Gitay, S. madeirensis LANGERHANS, 1880 is herein considered as a synonym of S. solitarius" [Rioja, 1917]. This is mystifying as, if they are synonymous, S. madeirensis is senior to S. solitarius. In addition Gitay does not mention S. solitarius. [details]
