Etymology The specific epithet monilata is a composite of the Latin noun monile (necklace) and the suffix -atus (having a feature or organ), and makes reference to the fact that the dorsum of the second and third segments is colored in black. [details]
Habitat Intertidal rocky shores, among algae. [details]
Type locality Pacific Ocean, Japan, Honshu. The species was described with base on specimens from two different localities, Misaki and Noto-ogi, both on Honshu. However the original description does not refer which of them is the type locality. [details]
