Etymology The specific epithet uncinatus is a Latin adjective meaning 'bearing hooks', and presumably refers to the characteristic shape and distribution of the uncini in the species, which separates the taxon from the close species Streblosoma hesslei Day, 1955, the two having uncini arranged in U-shaped loops.
