Authority Malmgren (1867) oddly has Sars as author of "Nerine foliosa" in the species headline although Malmgren was well aware of the original authorship by Audouin & Milne Edwards in Aonis. Perhaps he was indicating Sars as originator of the recombination. [details]
Taxonomy Aonis foliosa has been variously recombined since first described into Nerine, Spio, Scolecolepis, and Scolelepis. See for example Fauvel (1927:34) [details]
