Distribution Capa & Bakken 2015 indicate Augener's (1927) mainland Australia record is doubtful: "should not be considered to be a part of the continental Australian fauna, and should be considered known only from the original description." [specimens from Macquarie Island, south of New Zealand] Authors do not comment on the apparent distribution of Sphaerodoropsis heteropapillata, which Hartmann-Schröder recorded from Macquarie as well as Australia.
