Status Status uncertain, but possibly belongs to Alentia. Fauvel (1923: 84) includes Polynoe foliosa Lamarck (1818) as a tentative junior synonym of Halosydna gelatinosa (Sars, 1835) and earlier McIntosh (British Monograph, 1900: 384) had already included P. foliosa under Halsosydna gelatinosa, as had others he mentions, but this is obviously not possible given that Lamarck's name is senior. Instead Lamarck's name (adopted by him from the name in the unpublished Savigny MS) would replace the currently accepted Alentia gelatinosa if the synonymy was correct. However, in an application to the ICZN Muir (1979) repeated this synonymy without commenting on the fact that Lamarck's name (Muir incorrectly attributed it to Savigny) was senior to Sars name when he (Muir) stated that all Polynoe originally described had been removed to other genera. The type of Polynoe foliosa may be lost (not listed by the Solis-Weiss et al (2004) catalogue, so it may be indeterminable. [comment of G. Read, 3 February, 2024] [details]

Status Status uncertain, but possibly belongs to Alentia.
