Holotype Knight-Jones (1983: 280) called the specimen she examined the holotype. However, McIntosh (1885: 488) had a least two specimens originally. Presumably only one remains. [details]

Type locality considerably offshore from Rio del Plata, Argentina -37.2833° -53.8667°, 1100 m. McIntosh and subsequent workers describe the location as near or off Buenos Aires, but it looks to be nearly 200 km off the coast [details]
