Editor's comment Was a synonym of Diopatra neapolitana but Hannelore Paxton (unpublished pers. com.) has examined the type specimens of D. baeri Grube 1840 at the Zoological Museum of Berlin (ZMB F.1771). She found it to differ from D. neapolitana in the colour pattern, having shorter antennae, lesser developed branchiae over a shorter region of the body, and an earlier start of subacicular hooks. Indeed, Grube (1840:80) mentioned already that "it differed from Nereis (Diopatra) Cuprea delle Chiaie's [D. neapolitana] that occurs at Naples". [details]
