Editor's comment Nomen oblitum. Conchoserpula is a forgotten name. Blainville (1818) erected Conchoserpula for Serpula triquetra Linnaeus, now in Spirobranchus, a genus Blainville also named in 1818, so there is no priority issue. In the past it has been recorded as a synonym of Pomatoceros, but if Conchoserpula was an available name Pomatoceros (1844) would be a junior synonym of it, rather than the other way around. Similarly by priority it could not be a synonym of Vermiliopsis (1894) (the status given in Hartman Catalogue), regardless that both Pomatoceros and Vermiliopsis are much better known names. Spelling Here Blainville uses only the informal spelling 'Conchoserpule' and also 'Spirobranche', although for some other names he gives italic Latin equivalents [details]
