Editor's comment Dubious name mentioned as apparently a genus in Oken, 1807, but no species name mentioned until Oken, 1815. Probably indeterminable, but authors have treated Spirillum pellucidum as a synonym of Serpula spirillum Linnaeus, 1758. Thus, although if treated as available, Spirillum genus would have priority over Circeis Saint-Joseph, 1894, Spirillum genus is invalid because its sole apparent species, S. pellucidum is a name junior to Serpula spirillum.
