Etymology The genus is named in honour of Dr. Wilfried Westheide, author of important contributions to the knowledge of the family Syllidae and other interstitial polychaetes. [details]
Grammatical gender Feminine, following the second part of the compound name, which is a major genus in Syllidae. Syllis is a Greek female name. The type species is Eusyllis heterocirrata and the feminine suffix was correctly kept unchanged in the recombination. [details]
