Distribution Central and southern regions of Términos Lagoon, Southern Gulf of Mexico. [details]
Etymology The name carmelitensis is derived from the gentilitious "Carmelita", name given to the people living in the area of Términos Lagoon. [details]
Habitat In mud and fine sands, depth 2.6 to 4 m, temperature 25.7ºC to 28.09ºC, salinity 31.74 to 35.85 psu, pH 7.8 to 9.1. [details]
