Etymology The specific epithet cerastae is an infletion of the Latin noun cerastes, which derives from the Greek word kerastes, meaning horned', and from the Greek keras, 'horn', and refers to the characteristic presence of long and pointed fronto-lateral horns on the prostomium of the adults of the species. Habitat In fine coral sand, at subtidal depths. [details]
Reproduction Gonochoristic. Gametes developed from chaetigers 12-13 to 36-40 in both sexes. [details]
