New combination Willenz (1994) in his listing of types of RBINS, interpreted De Laubenfels' (1936: 132) allocation of Chalinissa Von Lendenfeld, 1887 to Axinella Schmidt, 1862 as indication of the classification of Thum's (1903) Chalinissa elongata var. tenuispicula. However, although the type species of Chalinissa, Isodictya dissimils is indeed a Axinella, Thum's variety is a clear Callyspongia, currently considered a junior synonym of Callyspongia (Callyspongia) serpentina (Lamarck, 1815).
