Synonymy Czerniavsky's (1880) descriptions in Russian and Latin are notoriously vague and illustrations are poor, so the affiliation of many of his species and genera remain uncertain. De Weerdt (2002) assigned the genus to Chalinidae incertae sedis, but in her comments she admitted that the most likely affiliation is junior synonymy of Haliclona s.l. Until Czerniavsky's type material has been re-examined we assume the suggested synonymy is correct. [details]
