Taxonomy Jereopsis Schmidt, 1879 was considered a nomen nudum by Sollas, 1888 and was given a new name, Neosiphonia. It is also preoccupied by Jereopsis Pomel, 1872 (fossil sponge). Jereopsis may be unaccepted, but Pisera & Lévi, 2002 maintain that Schmidt's material does exist and differs from Neosiphonia. [details]
