Authority Authorship of this name is taken from Lundbeck (1902). He claimed that Rathke and Vahl, friends/students of O.F. Müller had done the description and the plate, and not O.F. Müller himself. The publication of the 1806 volume of Müller's Zoologia Danicae has apparently taken a long time, because of the five persons printed on the title page, four were dead before the appearance of the volume. In the Latin preface, some of the contributors are mentioned but Lundbeck's conclusions is not supported by this text. Rathke was alive when the publication appeared, but Vahl was already dead (like O.F. Müller himself, P.C. Abildgaard, and J.S. Holten). It has been customary to cite authorship for species described and pictured in this volume to O.F. Müller, see for example Polymastia mamillaris. [details]
