Taxonomy Burton (1954: 231) gives the name combination for this species as Hymeniacidon glabrata in the text, but uses the combination Axinella glabrata in the caption of the figure showing a spicule of the holotype. From the description it is decided that Hymeniacidon glabrata is the intended combination for this species. Also for reasons of page priority (the figures are on p. 232) this is an objective junior synonym. [details]
