From editor or global species database
Editor's comment Cleodora strangulata Deshayes, 1823 was erroneously referred to Diacovolinia by Spoel at al. (1993) on the basis of the morphology of Cavolinia longirostris var. strangulata Hedley, 1907, which Spoel (1967) had erroneously treated as a junior synonym of Cleodora strangulata Deshayes. Whereas Hedley’s taxon is indeed referrable to Diacavolinia, the description of Deshayes’s taxon is accordant with Vaginella and it is currently accepted as a junior synonym of V. depressa. [details]
