The family Aphroditidae has not been previously recorded from Venezuelan waters, although 11 species from five genera are reported for the Grand Caribbean region. In this note, Aphrodita obtecta Ehlers 1887 is recorded for the first time for both Venezuela and the southern sector of the Grand Caribbean region
