Caulleryaspis sundaensis, new species, is described from the Sunda Strait, Indonesia. A single specimen
was collected off western Java at a depth of 1,060 m during the South Java Deep-Sea (SJADES) Biodiversity
Expedition 2018 to the Sunda Strait and eastern Indian Ocean off southwest Java, Indonesia. This new species is
distinguished from all other known sternaspid species by the unique features of its ventro-caudal shield, which has
a deep anterior depression, and where the anterior margins of the shield are slightly convergent and deeply curved
(U-shaped). A table comparing the shields of Caulleryaspis species, together with a key to identify all species in
the genus, are also provided.
