Nomenclature Ctenoides is sometimes treated as feminine, but Mörch (1853) named it as a subgenus (of Radula), therefore the endings he gave to species placed in the subgenus cannot be used to judge its gender; Mörch's pattern was the usual one of having names agree in gender with the genus not the subgenus. Since the original description does not indicate the gender, Ctenoides must be taken as masculine under ICZN Article 30.1.4.4 (G. Rosenberg, 5 Sept 2010). [details]
