On one of the stations made in the trench of Japan during the 59 cruise of r/v “Vitjaz” 3 species of Polynoidae were obtained. Among them one new species Macellicephaloides villosa was described and figure. Thus the number of species of Polynoidae living in the trench of Japan is twice as much as was known previously. All these species but Macellicephala violacea were recorded only in the deep-water trenches of the Pacific.
