AB  - Pareurythoe Gustafson (type species: P. japonica Gustafson), includes species having a sinuous caruncle, branchiae along most body segments, and furcate and spurred neurochaetae. Pareurythoe includes six species: P. borealis (M. Sars) from Norway, P. californica (Johnson) from California, P. chilensis (Kinberg) from Chile, P. gracilis Gustafson, P. japonica from Japan, and P. pitipanaensis de Silva, from Sri Lanka. The study of type and non-type material led us to reassess the boundaries of the genus. Amphinome paupera Grube and Kröyer in Grube, is regarded as belonging in Pareurythoe, and a senior synonym of P. chilensis (Kinberg). Eurythoe dubia Horst, belongs in Pareurythoe, and P. pitipanaensis is regarded as the atoke, and a junior synonym of P. dubia (Horst) comb. n. A neotype is proposed for P. japonica, whereas P. gracilis is regarded as a nomen nudum. Two new species with branchiae from chaetiger 2, and without caruncular furrow, both from French Polynesia, are described: P. mooreae sp. n. has minute eyes, caruncle reaching chaetiger 3, and median seg- ments with neurochaetae spurred; and P. paulayi sp. n. has large eyes, caruncle reaching chaetiger 4, and median segments with neurochaetae furcate. In contrast, Eurythoe rullieri Fauvel, from the Gulf of Guinea, was included because it apparently belongs in Pareurythoe. However, its morphology differs from that of Pareurythoe, and Eurythoe Kinberg, by having a terete caruncle, and branchiae present along anterior and median regions, such that a new genus, Kudenovythoe gen. n., is proposed to include species having terete caruncles, mostly detached of body wall, and branchiae restricted to anterior and median regions. An additional species from Papua New Guinea is also described, as K. corbariae sp. n. Keys to identify Amphinominae genera, and species in Pareurythoe and Kudenovythoe are also included.
