Spelling It is uncertain if all these "Aphrodite" variants exist in literature. However, for example Quatrefages (1866) used informal names in headings (eg Aphrodite echidne for Aphrodita echidna), along with the formal Aphrodita latin name. Subsequent authors may have used these informal names or used the informal genus spelling. [details]
