Description Cuvillierinella pylosensis from uppermost Campanian–lowermost Maastrichtian of Pylos, Peleponnese, southern Greece: transmitted-light micrographs of megalospheric generation in thin sections of cemented carbonates (scale bars = 0.5 mm). 1 Oblique section close to the axial plane. 2–4, 6, 13 Slightly oblique axial sections; note the presence of the flexostyle in 3 and 6. 5, 7–9 Axial sections. 10 Longitudinal section of the uniserial stage. 11 Equatorial section. 12 Tangential section of three successive chambers. Key to abbreviations: ap = aperture, ap f = apertural face, bl = basal layer,  c chl= cortical chamberlets, E = embryo, f = flexostyle, flo = floor, fo = foramina, G = glomerulus, m chl = medullar chamberlet, prp = preseptal space, rpi = residual pillars, s = septum, sl =5 septulum.
