Taxonomy Polymastia mamillaris of most authors prior to the revision of Morrow & Boury-Esnault, 2000 must be referred to Polymastia penicillus. Polymastia mamillaris sensu Müller, 1806 is a separate valid species from Swedish Coast (North-Sea) and Barents Sea. The citations of this species of Polymastia from other parts of the world are highly doubtful. Especially all records from Mediterranean area have to be allocated to Polymastia penicillus. All the databases have to be checked carefully concerning this species [details]

Reproduction Oviparity. Oocytes 65-85 µm. [details]Taxonomy Polymastia mamillaris of most authors prior to the revision of Morrow & Boury-Esnault, 2000 must be referred to Polymastia penicillus.
