Abstract

Sixteen species of freshwater ostracod crustaceans are reported from Japan. Among them, five species are new to science, seven species are new to the Japanese fauna, and four species are needed commenting on the specific names. The new species are Ilyocypris japonica, Candona japonica, Stenocypris viridis, Cypridopsis japonica and C. nigrovittata.
