Non-marine Ostracoda from sediments of the Upper ]urassic?—Lower Cretaceous Bahia Supergroup have been used successfully for the solution of stratigraphic problems in the basins of northeastern Brazil, chiefly in the Recôncavo, Tucano, and ]atobá basins. In the Alagoas/Sergipe Basin the Ostracoda are less frequent than in the Recôncavo Basin, therefore of lesser practical value. In each new area explored in the Recôncavo and Tucano basins there appear species as yet unknown that supply a greater volume of evidence for paleontological interpretations. Eight species are discussed; six species have been assigned to the genus Cypridea one of which to the subgenus Cypridea (Morininoides); two to Reconcavona (both doubtly considered). Eight zones and ten subzones, all of them characterized by Ostracoda, could be established. The zones reveal a fair correspondence with the lithostratigraphic units of the Bahia Supergroup. The zones extend across the Reconcavo and Tucano basins, but not all of them are present in the Almada, Alagoas/Sergipe, and ]atoba basins. The Ostracoda fauna in the upper part of the Candeias Formation and the Upper part(?) of the São Sebastião Formation, however, is relatively poor and demands better studies.
