Comparison Alloiteau distinguished Favitopsis from Favia by the cerioid colonial structure, the distal edge of septa, the poor development of the axial organ and the subtabulate endotheca. He distinguished his new genus from Favites by the distal edge of septa and the subtabulate endotheca. He finally compared to Isastrea whose the endotheca is vesiculose and the septal structure of montlivaltid type.
