Etymology The preďŹx âTriodonto-â is derived from âTriodusâ which is the Ancient Greek name for the trident of Poseidon. The name is inspired from the distally tripartite placids. The sufďŹx â-deresâ (derived from the Ancient Greek deres = neck) refers to the placidsâ position in the neck region, and is furthermore com monly used in generic names of cyclorhagid kinorhynchs.
