Homonymy Callipelta Sollas, 1888 is a junior homonym of Callipelta Agassiz, 1846, which is to be maintained as senior homonym (ICZN Art. 53.2), even though it is a junior synonym of Callopeltis Bonaparte, 1843. To remove the homonymy, Sollasipelta nom. nov., was proposed by Van Soest & Hooper (2020) named after William Johnson Sollas. In addition to the type species Callipelta ornata, the authors reassigned Callipelta cavernicola, C. mixta, C. punctata, C. sollasi and C. thoosa to the genus Sollasipelta. [details]
