Homonymy This is a secondary junior homonym of Tuba lineata var. simplex Duchassaing & Michelotti, 1864, assigned to Callyspongia and raised to species level as Callyspongia simplex by Pulitzer-Finali, 1986. Although there is neither an image, nor an extant specimen, it is more likely that Tuba linearis var. simplex is a junior synonym of Callyspongia (Cladochalina) vaginalis (Lamarck) (cf.
