Polychètes pélagiques des campagnes de ''L'Ombango'' dans les eaux équatoriales et tropicales Ouest-Africanes
Editions de l'ORSTOM. Collection Études et Thèses
Pelagic Polychaetes from the Cruises of ''Ombango'' in Equatorial and Tropical West-African Waters. The collection (2817 specimens) comes from the cruises 12, 13 and 14 (1960-1961) of ''Ombango'', the ship of the ORSTOM Oceanographic Center, in Pointe-Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. It brings together the pelagic Polychaetes from 154 hauls with open net ''Grand Schmidt''. The collection is interesting because pelagic Polychaetes have been the subject-matter of only fragmentary or occasional studies in this region. The number of identified species is sixty-five (of which twelve were new to science), belonging to thirty-one genera (of which three new) from ten families (of which one new). Every species is shortly described and studied with regard to its quantity, and its vertical as well as its geographical distribution. A result of particular interest is the reidentification of Tomopteris onisciformis, the type-species of the genus Tomopteris.
