During one year of bottom trawling along the slope of the continental shelf off Madagascar some sea-shells were obtained in greater depths which were reported in the literature either uncommon for that area or very rare in general. The rare species caught were Conus teremachii, Conus milneedwardsi, an unidentified Conus sp. and Cypraea broderipii. Some other species whose usual habitat is South-East Asia were found off the west coast of Madagascar. Those species were Pleurotomaria sp., Murex palmarosae, Dentalium elephantinum. All species were caught with a normal bottom trawl.
