Sheremetevskij erroneously cited the species as Echinoderes dubius Reinh., 1887 and combined it with Echinoderes dentatus Reinhard, 1881, Pycnophyes ponticus Zelinka, 1928 partim to Pycnophyes dentatus (Reinhard, 1881).
