Type material According to Audouin & Milne-Edwards (1830: 156-157) the type was deposited in the collections of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris (MNHN): ''L'étude des Annelides [...] et l'examen que nous avons fait de toutes celles qui ont été réunies depuis plusieurs années par divers voyageurs, et que l'on conserve dans les riches collections du Muséum d'Histoire naturelle de Paris, nous ont offert plusiers types d'organisation assez nouveaux et assez curieux [...]. De ce nombre est le genre que nous établissons sous le nom d'Hipponoé.'' However, Solis-Weiss et al. (2004) were not able to find this type. [details]
