Nomenclature Costa & Christoffersen (2017 not Code published) suggested replacing Ophiodrominae as a subfamily name because Ophiodromus was a synonym of Oxydromus, but this proposal did not taken into account ICZN Article 40 (synonymy of the type genus - validity of family-group names not affected), and should be disregarded. Ophiodrominae remains as the subfamily name.
As Ophiodromus was thought to be the valid name at the time, Pleijel (1998: 126) newly named the subfamily Ophiodrominae, having type genus Ophiodromus. However, Viéitez et al. (2004) pointed out that Oxydromus is an available genus name and must be considered as the valid name. This does not affect Ophiodrominae as the subfamily name, contrary to the opinion of Costa & Christoffersen (2017) [details]
