Nomenclature Lamarck (1807, presumed January 1807 by Sherborn) probably was the first to make available the non-binomial name Lima inflata Chemnitz, 1784. If this were the case, the binomen Limaria inflata Link, 1807 would not be the first act making the name available (ICZN Art. 50.1) and therefore would not be an available name, although Link, 1807 is widely cited as the author of the specific name inflata. It is Limaria inflata Link, 1807 which has been designated as type species of Limaria Link, 1807 by Winckworth (1930: 106).  [details]
