Homonymy This genus name is preoccupied by Asychis Kinberg, 1867 (same year but published earlier than Gray's name), a genus of Polychaeta. Thus, Gray's name (published on p. 539) is not available, but because of the synonymy with (sub-)genus Gellius Gray, 1867 (p. 538) no new name was necessary. The synonymy with Gellius is well-established because of page priority and accepted synonymy of the type species of both genera (type species of Asychis is Reniera fibulata Schmidt, 1862 and type species of Gellius is Isodictya jugosa Bowerbank, 1866, both are accepted as Haliclona (Gellius) fibulata (Schmidt, 1862) [details]
