Taxonomy Koh et al (2003:183) "Owenia lobopigidiata [sic] is deposited in the Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Science, St. Petersburg. During a visit by one of the authors (IAJ) a detailed examination led us to observe no trace of a branchial crown. This species is big, at least twice as large as specimens from the Bay of Banyuls, and the types are quite well preserved, so this absence can be taken as definite. The head of O. lobopigidiata [sic] is identical to that of Galathowenia as described by Nilsen & Holthe (1985) or Parapar (2001) and we think that this species should be transferred to the genus Galathowenia. Curiously, it was this species that Dauvin & Thiebaut (1994), from available descriptions, considered as a second valid species, alongside O. fusiformis." [details]
